About a month ago, Jon and I returned home from Grenada for our final month in Maine before heading to the islands for the long haul! We have truly cherished our time here, and have spent most of our time visiting with friends, family, our furs, and of course packing once again :-). I must say, we are getting pretty good and this whole moving thing!
We head back to Grenada on October 15th. We will be there for about 10 days getting the boat ready for the upcoming charter season which starts in November! Jon, myself and Isaac (our 3rd crew member!) will be sailing Split Second northwest to Tortola, where we will be attending the BVI charter boat show from November 7th-10th. This will be a great opportunity for Jon, Isaac and I to meet many of the charter brokers in the industry. Ultimately, they are the one’s that get us the charters we need to have the most successful season possible! Throughout the course of the boat show, Split Second will host 2-3 lunches in which the charter brokers will have a chance to meet us, the crew, and also get a feel for how we run Split Second. Wish us luck!
Jon and I will be gone until July or so. This year we will have the opportunity to sail to many other destinations, along with the BVI’s. So far our agenda includes, St. Barths, St. Martin, the Bahamas, Bermuda, the Virgin Islands, AND best of all it sounds as though we will be taking Split Second to New England this summer! We are so so excited that we will get to be in our neck of the woods!
As I stated in the title of this blog, us leaving for this long period of time is definitely bittersweet. Leaving our families and our fur kids for that long will be extremely tough! If we happen to have a week off here and there, we may just have to come home to visit! Hinckley and Lincoln will be going to my parents house (THANKS MOM AND DAD), and I am sure we will get constant photos and updates!
If anyone is traveling in those areas this winter, please don’t hesitate to contact us! We love seeing familiar faces! Keep a look out for blog updates about every week or so! Cheers to all!
